While many may check out erection as depending on sex drive, this is not constantly the situation- in some cases the drive is present however the penis just does not cooperate. A decrease in sex drive and a not-so-firm erection can be triggered by a number of factors.

First on the listing and also one of the most preferred among the biological issues of a gentlemen is a reduced libido. Sexual libido is thought about the libido of the physical body and is mainly affected by the human brain, which, then, dictates what the body does. Typically, the problems of the sex drive depend on the four sex-related stimulations differentiated by medical professionals:.

Untimely ejaculation can also be caused by sexual taboos. In some societies, sex is forbidden so gentlemens are required to ejaculate rapidly. More frequently in North America, ejaculating too soon can be the outcome of frequent masturbation or stress and anxieties.

Libido as well as erection troubles can additionally be affected by impotence or exactly what medical professionals call weak erection, wherein the penis is frequently drooping and also is consistently incapable to obtain erection. Unknown to many men, impotence is not simply shown up in not having an erection in the first stages of the sex-related experience. Conditions wherein the man is able of erection however does not sustain up until his team reaches climax could also be counted as occasions of impotence. 5 Signs It's Time to Retire Your Running Shoes

Running shoe materials and designs are getting more advanced, but they’re still man-made products with distinct lifespans. “These new shoes are just like any other chemical compound under constant pressure,” says Claire Wood, senior product manager for performance running at New Balance. “They will break down over time.”

Logging miles in worn-out shoes not only slows you down, but it can also increase your risk of injury. Before you shell out money for new kicks, though, use these 5 guidelines to find out if yours are ready for retirement or if they have some mileage left in them.

The Tread Is Gone

One of the main goals of your shoes is to provide traction whether you’re on a hot paved road or a rugged, technical trail. But over time the rubber on the bottom outsole—where your shoe comes in contact with the ground from heel to toe—wears away just like the rubber on your car tires. Take note of “bald spots” on the outsole where rubber has worn off.

“A little scuffing is fine, but if the tread is gone and your outsole is now white, your shoe is coming apart,” says Bruce Wilk, a physical therapist and owner of The Runner’s High specialty shop in Miami, Florida. Depending on how you land, you also might wear down a specific spot faster like the inside of your heel or the ball of your foot. Unbalanced tread can slightly alter your running gait, possibly causing injury over time, says Wood.

The Shock Absorption Is Shot
While you can easily see when the tread is worn out, it’s harder to tell with the midsole foam, which is the part of the shoe that gives your legs that “springy” feeling with each step. Look for deterioration by placing your shoes on a flat table and examining them from behind.

“On a level surface, your shoes should be straight and even,” says Wilk. However, lopsidedness is a sign that the structure of the midsole foam is compromised. When this happens, the midsole loses its ability to absorb the force of impact caused by pounding the pavement. Now, your knees and shins take the brunt of the force. A depleted midsole can also cause foot instability, making it more likely to roll your feet in or out and leading to ankle and knee problems.

Extreme flexibility is another red flag of midsole breakdown, says Wood. You don’t want to be able to fold a running shoe like a tortilla. If you can bend the toe to the heel collar, your shoe probably has little to no shock absorption left.

The Mileage Is Adding Up
A shoe’s durability depends on factors like your style of running and weight. However, 300 to 500 miles is a good rule of thumb for how long your sneakers will last, says Wood. For instance, if you run 80 miles a month, then you should reinvest in a new pair between four and six months.

Keep track of your mileage by entering the date you bought your pair in a training log or by using a Sharpie to write the date on your shoe.

Country: It's a man's world

TORONTO — Aside from doctors and accountants, perhaps no one studies a chart as closely as a Nashville country musician.

Take Terri Clark, the Montreal-born, Alberta-raised Grand Ole Opry member whose career will be 20 years and 10 albums in with Tuesday’s release of Some Songs.

That’s also the title of the first single, a feel-good summer breeze that has risen to the Top 20. That should be good news, but it’s the way it’s risen — haltingly and laboriously, like a pack-hunched hiker mounting that one last incline — that has the astute Clark concerned.

“I’ve definitely noticed a difference from the last record I released, in the speed that my single’s climbing in a not good way,” a candid Clark said during a recent chat in Toronto. “It’s probably the slowest. And I don’t think that’s a reflection of the music. It’s a reflection on the climate right now and the male-dominated thing that’s going on.

“It’s hard for me because I’m not exactly sure where to point the finger. I don’t think it’s the song. I don’t think it’s the music. Is it the fact that I’m a woman or the fact that I’m a veteran artist and a woman? Two strikes against me?”

Certainly, one needn’t look far to find evidence that country gender imbalance has grown wider than the brim of a Stetson.

As one example, the Canadian Country Music Association Awards will be held this Sunday in Edmonton, airing on CBC-TV. In the evening’s top three categories — the fans’ choice award along with single and album of the year — not one of the 15 nominations went to a woman.

Looking at all this decade’s CCMAs galas going back to the 2010 show, there was a total of 60 available nominations in those top three categories. Two of those went to groups featuring a woman (Small Town Pistols and Hey Romeo) and another six to female solo artists, with Clark scooping up five of those (Carolyn Dawn Johnson was nominated for album of the year in 2011).

The CCMAs, of course, are only reflecting the Canadian country charts, which are recently ruled by a series of rugged, stubble-jawed, cowboy-hatted men: Dean Brody, George Canyon, Paul Brandt, Gord Bamford, Tim Hicks, Codie Prevost.

Toronto-bred Lindi Ortega is one of the year’s nominees for female artist of the year, while also wresting consideration for roots artist of the year. Her grit-grounded folk feels out of bootstep with the arena-country that typically rules radio, and she’s grateful for the accolades.

But she too has noticed the way women are being squeezed out of country.

Recently, she was at home in Nashville when she heard the strains of an outdoor concert echoing from the parking lot of BMI’s headquarters across the street on Music Row. Over the course of a grey evening, she heard from the likes of Jake Owen, Lee Brice, Dan + Shay and even pop-rapper Mike Posner — but the bill was wanting in one crucial way.

“I could not hear a female voice all night,” she relayed in a telephone chat from Tennessee. “It’s kinda obvious that it seems to be male-dominated across the board.

“I think it’s a little unfortunate,” she added. “I feel like we have just as much to offer.”

While CCMAs co-host Jann Arden wouldn’t necessarily classify herself as a country musician, she’s a longtime fan of the genre’s best no-frills storytellers. She muses that these sorts of gender shifts can be cyclical and adds that country has generally skewed heavily male. But she then reels off a list of women who were recently pillars of chart: Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, the Judds, not to mention, of course, Shania Twain.

If women were scarce on country charts in recent decades, it wasn’t this stark or severe. The Top 20 songs on the U.S. country chart in the first week of September included only two female solo artists, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood — and they were paired on the duet Somethin’ Bad. A recent Forbes roundup of the highest earners in country music included only one woman among its 13-artist list: Taylor Swift, who’s presently prepping for complete immersion in pop with the release of 1989.

Money, coincidentally, is the engine driving the country industry’s focus on men, says Arden.

“You have to understand, when they see something working at radio, when they see something working commercially, the tendency for those A&R guys is of course, this is what’s working, this is what we need to sign,” she said. “It’s not that there’s not a lot of female artists out there, they’re just seemingly — maybe from the get-go — not getting those opportunities because labels just aren’t signing that.”

Karen Daniels, a morning radio host at Vancouver’s 93.7 JRfm new country station, says it’s indeed a struggle to find female talent to fill the airwaves.

Her station gets dramatically fewer requests for female artists, and she acknowledges that retaining a robust audience tends to mean spinning men.

“There’s still this old kind of standard rule in radio that you don’t play two females back to back,” she explained in an interview. “(It) sounds kind of ridiculous in the year 2014 but it just doesn’t come across. Listeners just don’t like it. It doesn’t trend well for us.”

When grasping for explanations, many point to radio’s current “bro-country” trend — the recent New York Magazine-coined term for sudsy, pop-infused good-time tunes that are typically sung by good-’ol-boys, tattooed hunks-in-trucks like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Chase Rice.

In these tunes, women tend to be reduced to car ornaments in Daisy Dukes, and it’s hard to see how female artists could wrest a larger role in this low-bro subgenre without outright pandering.

“Women have a harder time with that,” Daniels agreed. “They can sing. They can sing like nobody’s business. But Miranda Lambert, I think she’s one of the few to break through because she’s got that rough girl, don’t-mess-with-me attitude. And that’s the same attitude as the bro-country.

“It seems to be working for her, anyway.”

And therein lies the best hope for young women trying to break into country, Daniels argues: force.

“Women are going to step out of their traditional country roles. You don’t have to sing ballads,” she said. “Write your material, play the guitar, get out there in front and show you can do it just like the guys can. That’s the trend right now. Because we know you can sing. You’ve gotta be able to put it all up front and show what you got because that’s what the guys are doing.”

For women who are already well-established, however, such a transition might feel more akin to country’s core sin: inauthenticity.

Clark’s latest record opens with the stomping Here Comes Crazy, punctuated with crunchy guitars and a blazing solo. It’s about so-called “good girls” cutting loose, and it’s a very intentional bro-country rejoinder, or at least a crashing of an exclusive party.

The 46-year-old Clark — who co-hosts a syndicated Nashville radio show — pressed for deeper lyrical content on her 10th album.

And she takes pride in that milestone. She recalls the first time she gingerly set foot in a recording studio to put down vocals for “When Boy Meets Girl” from her self-titled ‘95 debut. She couldn’t sleep the night before, daunted under the pressure of her first shot at Nashville success.

Now, she finds herself staring down her future with similar uncertainty.

“My goodness, I have no idea where I’m going from here, what kind of projects I’m going to do.”

Is she considering stopping?

“No, I hope not. We’ll see how this goes. I’m hoping not. I’d like to stay in it for a while longer.”

Really, it doesn’t sound like Clark’s voice is going to go away — but she isn’t sure the degree to which it will still be heard.

And increasingly, there are few like it.

“When my time comes and I feel like it’s really not going to benefit me or country radio to keep doing mainstream stuff and trying to push it out there, I’ll stop and rethink it,” she added. “I’ll never stop making music, though.

“There are some artists who have one foot in the current door and they’re still having hits, and one foot in the veteran door. I feel like that person up here right now, and I’m female, so it’s a little bit different. But I’ve got one foot in the current and one foot in the veteran.

“And we’ll just see how long I’m able to — or allowed to — straddle that.”

Prove You're Sikh or Wear a Crash Helmet, Delhi Police Tell Women on Motorcycles

It’s a familiar sight on the roads of India’s capital: a motorbike rider wearing a helmet and visor with a female passenger who sits sidesaddle perilously helmet free.

Agence France-Presse/Getty Images

It’s a familiar sight on the roads of India’s capital: a motorbike rider wearing a helmet and visor with a female passenger who sits sidesaddle perilously helmet free.

For years, under a Delhi law, helmets have been optional for women on motorcycles. Not anymore.

Delhi’s transport department ruled last week that such women must wear crash helmets or face a fine of 100 rupees ($1.70). But it might not be so easy to enforce.

The new rule, the latest turn in the road for women on two-wheels, continues to exempt Sikh women who say that wearing any kind of headgear, apart from a turban or a scarf, goes against their religion.

Anil Shukla, joint commissioner of Delhi traffic police,  said the exemption of Sikh women from wearing helmets will be “a major impediment” in the implementation of the order since “it will be difficult to identify whether the woman passenger is a Sikh or not.”

The Delhi government had in 1998 made wearing helmets mandatory for all riders and passengers on motorcycles as well as scooters.  But objections from the Sikh community led to a change in the law to make helmets optional for women.

Last week’s reversal of the rules follows a persistent run in the number of deaths among women in road traffic accidents – many of them scooter and motorcycle passengers.

In 2013, the latest year for which figures are available, 63 women died in motorcycle accidents in Delhi, according to Delhi’s traffic police, a similar number were killed in the two previous years. More than 250 women were injured in similar accidents in 2013. Traffic police say the vast majority of riders and passengers in Delhi are men but a disproportionate number of victims of head injuries from accidents are women.

Safety campaigners say helmets are unpopular among women passengers because wearing them ruins their hairstyles.

More than 200 women have been fined since last week for disobeying the new order, according to traffic police.

Traffic cops have been positioned at busy intersections around the city to intercept passengers without helmets and levy spot fines.

“Helmets should be compulsory for everyone. Accidents do not happen on the basis of religion,” Mr. Shukla, the traffic police commissioner added. “We are stopping all women passengers on two-wheelers without helmets. It’s up to them to prove whether they are Sikh.”

India accounts for more than 10% of total road fatalities world-wide despite having only 1% of the world’s vehicle population, according to the International Road Federation, a road safety advocacy group, which welcomed the change in the law on women and helmets.

“The lack of dedication on the part of policymakers in India has kept the country’s road safety record dismal,” said IRF Chairman K.K. Kapila.

C7 Corvette Stingray Costs Over $273k USD in China

General Motors does not currently market the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in the Chinese market, but thanks to grey market importers, there are a few new Corvettes available for sale in China – which will set you back at least $273,237 American dollars based on the current conversion rates.

The Chinese automotive market is chock full of prospective buyers who want high end, high performance foreign sports cars and while you would think that the modern Chevrolet Corvette Stingray would be an ideal American car to answer the demand for foreign opulence; the Stingray is not sold by General Motors. Fortunately, there are some companies in China who are importing and selling the C7 Corvette Stingray as – while it isn’t sold by any GM affiliated dealerships like it is here in the US – it is legal for road use and that makes the new Corvette in China a “grey market” vehicle.

The Grey Market Explained
When cars are imported from another market because they are not sold in that market, they are known as grey market vehicles because, unlike “black market” items, these vehicles are legal for sale…they just aren’t marketed for sale by the company that normally markets them. The new Corvette Stingray isn’t illegal, it just isn’t sold by GM so we refer to it as a grey market car.

The grey market exists in pretty much every country where the automotive industry is very strong and one example of a grey market car here in the United States would be the 1996-1998 Nissan Skyline. This high performance sports car was built for a handful of markets including Japan and the UK, but it was never offered by Nissan in the US. The Skyline has a storied racing tradition overseas and that caused many American Nissan lovers to want a Skyline in their driveway so a company called Motorex went through the steps to get select Skyline models approved for US road use. In the long run, this meant that someone who wanted to buy a 1996-1998 Nissan Skyline could buy one from a US company…but that company wasn’t Nissan.

The advantage to grey market vehicles like the Nissan Skyline in the US or the C7 Corvette Stingray in China is that prospective buyers can access vehicles that are otherwise unavailable from the automaker itself. The downside is that the company selling these vehicles often have to incur some major expenses to both acquire the vehicles in question and have them approved for road use. Also, the high level of exclusivity increases the price so when combined with the high costs associated with grey market importers – the sale price of a grey price car can be much higher than the standard MSRP in other markets.

The First Images of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible
The debut of the C7R Chevrolet Corvette race car

For the Chinese grey market C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, that price hike amounts to an increase of more than $200,000.

The Chinese Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Pricing
There are two new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupes currently available in the Chinese market that I am aware of, both of which are for sale through the performance car seller Beijing Tuning Street. It is unclear what options are added to these two C7 Stingrays, but we know that one is red, one is blue, both have the standard 5-spoke wheels and both have the 6-speed automatic transmission. The original piece from CarNewsChina states that these cars have 460 horsepower so that would suggest that they are equipped with the high performance exhaust package…but I can’t read anything in Chinese so I’m just taking the world of the original source.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in Torch Red at Beijing Tuning Street carries a price of 1.73 million yuan – or $281,369 US Dollars with the current conversion rates. The Laguna Blue Tintcoat Corvette has a slightly lower price of 1.68 million yuan…or $273,237 USD.

The article does state that the blue car is a base model so if I price out a Corvette 1LT with the performance exhaust, Laguna Blue paint and the automatic transmission, it would cost you around $57,535 USD. With a grey market price of $273,237, this same Corvette would cost you about $217,702 extra to buy that Laguna Blue base Vette in China.

Just one more reason for Americans to thank their lucky stars for being born in the USA where the fastest Corvette ever won’t cost you more than a quarter of a million dollars.

National Prostate Health Month Underscores Importance of Knowing Your Numbers

WASHINGTON Sept. 2 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today at the start of National Prostate Health Month (NPHM) professional association representing urology practices in the United States LUGPA and patient advocate organization ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer urged patients to man up and go to the doctor.

“Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men in the United States” said Juan Reyna M.D. president of LUGPA. “Unfortunately many men have the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ mentality giving prostate cancer an undue foothold in men’s overall health. Through our sustained partnership with ZERO we have made strides to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the value of diagnosis. Diagnosis is the first step to treating the disease which is most treatable when detected early – but diagnosis is not possible if men don’t get themselves to the doctor.”

The intent of NPHM occurring every September is to increase public awareness about prostate health – particularly about the risk factors associated with diseases like prostate cancer which is one of the leading causes of cancer death among men in the United States. The joining together of LUGPA and ZERO underscores the importance of communication and collaboration between physicians and patients in their united effort to eradicate this disease.

“Since I joined the fight against cancer over a decade ago terrific advances in diagnostic imaging surgical techniques radiation therapy and novel treatments have reduced the prostate cancer mortality rate by an average of 3.5 percent each year but there is still a great need for new treatments and new hope” said ZERO’s CEO Jamie Bearse. “Working together to raise awareness and education is the first critical step toward achieving our ultimate goal of saving lives and ending prostate cancer.”

Prostate cancer can often be found early when it is most likely to be cured by testing the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in a man’s blood.

LUGPA’s Your Numbers Matter campaign aims to help men understand how awareness of their personal numbers like their PSA-level play a role in overall health. The initiative encourages men to ask their doctor to check their numbers and serves as an avenue for physicians to maintain open lines of communication with their patients about appropriate testing for prostate cancer and other urologic conditions.

Prostate cancer continues to be the most common cancer in men accounting for about 1 in 4 new cases according to data published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians. The estimated number of new cases and estimated deaths from prostate cancer both decreased slightly for 2014 by 3 percent and 1 percent respectively.

LUGPA represents urology group practices in the United States with more than 2000 physicians who make up more than 20 percent of the nation’s practicing urologists. LUGPA and its member practices are committed to best practices research data collection and benchmarking to promote quality clinical outcomes. For more information visit lugpa.org.

DPS recommends motorcycle safety tips after recent accidents

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking drivers to take extra safety precautions after two motorcycle accidents happened in one week in Lubbock, about 500 feet apart.

The first crash occurred on the morning of Aug. 24, when 63-year-old Billy Dan Parker was riding his motorcycle with 63-year-old Brenda Cox.

A Chevy Malibu pulled in front of them to enter a parking lot, causing them to collide at 82nd and Akron.

Both Parker and Cox died from their injuries.

“We get in a habit of looking down the roadway looking for cars or trucks coming down the road,” said DPS Sergeant Bryan Witt, “and sometimes we don’t take the time to look for these smaller vehicles.”

That Saturday, Aug. 30, a man was turning onto 82nd Street on his motorcycle when he was hit by a Ford SUV as it was turning into Bolton’s Gas Station.

The man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

“We need to learn to share the road with them,” Witt said, “because as we can see, they’re just increasing in numbers on the roadways.”

Witt said the numbers are increasing because gas is cheaper to buy for motorcycles.

“You see these motorcycle social groups that are starting up and they travel together,” he said, “so you see a lot of motorcycles on the road, more than you saw in the 2000s.”

Witt says drivers need to check their mirrors every three to five seconds for a motorcyclist.

“When you’re merging onto the loop or something like that, or merging off the loop, make sure you check those blind spots because that’s when you’re probably going to miss them,” he said, “is when you’re changing lanes or when you’re at the intersection getting ready to pull off.”

Even vehicles driving behind a motorcyclist need to take precautions, Witt said, to avoid a crash.

“Give yourself a little bit of extra room in the event that they need to slow down or stop,” he said, “because they’ll be able to stop that motorcycle a lot faster than you can stop a car.”

The Texas Department of Transportation reported 495 motorcycle fatalities in the state last year, with a five percent increase in motorcycle accidents each year.

However, Witt says this can change.

“As you can tell by those numbers, there’s work to be done on both sides,” he said. “from motorcycle riders, also from vehicle operators.

Witt encourages motorcyclists with a license to make sure and take an additional training course.

“Always remember to wear your helmets,” he said. “That’s something that could save your life.”

Bikers rumble in Durham for 10th annual event

Aug. 31, 2014 @ 05:17 PM

DURHAM —

Motorcyclists drove up and down 9th Street in Durham’s Brightleaf District on Sunday afternoon, and enthusiasts milled outside Dain’s Place with beers in hand, talking about their love of the machines to both old friends and new. So went the conclusion to Ton Up NC’s 10th annual Bull City Rumble.

It started 13 years ago with a passion shared by three men. Co-founder and president Marcus Rogers got together with two fellow motorcycle lovers to start the bike-dedicated nonprofit Ton Up NC.
Rogers said they decided to start a group when they realized there was no place that specialized in vintage motorcycle repairs.
“We like to be together, we like to work on the bikes together and we like to help each other,” he said.
The nonprofit contributes to AHRMA, the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association, to ensure that AHRMA has funds to organize and put on vintage motorcycle races around the country.
The group has since grown to seven members who all ride, repair and race vintage motorcycles, but the feat they pull off yearly is much bigger than that. The nonprofit hosts what is advertised as “North Carolina’s largest vintage motorcycle, scooter and café racer event” over Labor Day weekend. Rogers said turnout this year was in the thousands, drawing people from Texas, Pittsburgh and California, and even international visitors from Italy and Brazil.
The event, which started on Friday, featured group rides, social events and a bike show open to the public. After being held in Raleigh as the Raleigh Rumble, the Bull City Rumble has been in Durham for the past five, which Rogers said is a purposeful decision.
“We love Durham,” he said, comparing the city’s “strong do-it-yourself culture” to repairing bikes by hand.
He said the group also appreciated how Durham’s culture focused on embracing differences.
“We’re not your typical motorcycle group because we have an affinity for obsolete technology,” Rogers said.
Durham’s history also pairs nicely with historic biking culture, Rogers added.
He picked up a Bull City Rumble poster, pointing to the iconic Lucky Strike tower in the background. The city, just like the bikes, has been “lovingly restored,” he said.
“Things that are old do not need to be thrown away,” Rogers said, adding that more appreciation should be shown for things that were built to last.
The event, which started in a small parking lot, now closes down Main Street for the bike show. Rogers attributes some of the growth to word of mouth.
“The folks that come out to the Rumble, they’re great people. They’re fantastic people,” he said. “And then they tell more fantastic people to come out.”
Even some locals were new to the action. Hillsborough resident Jason Buchanan, who grew up in Chapel Hill, came out to the Rumble for the first time this year.
“I’ve been a motorcycle freak since I was 3,” he said. “It always fascinated me. It’s a passion that’s never left me.”
Buchanan said there has been a recent resurgence in the popularity of 70s-era motorcycles because of their widespread availability, their affordable pricing and their mechanical simplicity.
He agreed with Rogers; the people who came out to the Rumble weren’t “stereotypical bikers.” He said that the people he met over the weekend were from various skill levels and career paths.
“They’re just an eclectic, intelligent group of people,” he said, adding that the social component of biking has become increasingly more important to him.
Buchanan, who attends one to two motorcycle events every year, was impressed by the inclusiveness of this event.
“They don’t ostracize anybody,” he said. “If you own a motorcycle, you’ll fit in with this group.”
The feeling that Buchanan came away with was Ton UP NC’s goal all along. “We really want people to share in it,” Rogers said. “We don’t want to be exclusive.”
