The head of the only ACT government-accredited motorcycle training company has backed calls for learner drivers to spend time on a motorbike to improve road-safety awareness.

Days after the year’s second ACT motorcyclist death, Stay Upright ACT and region manager Simon McAdie said he agreed in principle with a suggestion by Senator Cory Bernardi, although more public discussion would be needed before a move to make it mandatory.

“Anyway we are helping people become more motorcycle-aware – and not just motorcycles, but you get a whole experience of the road thing, including pedestrians – is a good idea,” Mr McAdie said.

Awareness initiative: A proposal to get people learning to drive cars to also ride motorcycles has some support.

Senator Bernardi said he would write this week to all premiers and chief ministers to promote a short mandatory session of motorcycle riding, but the ACT government rejected the suggestion on Friday.

Attorney-General Simon Corbell said the government accepted the recommendation of a recent assembly inquiry to introduce a new competency focused on vulnerable road users, including motorcyclists, in the practical assessment for provisional licence candidates.

“The inquiry did not make any recommendation about mandating practical motorcycle experience in order for a person to obtain a car driver licence and the ACT government has no plans to do this,” Mr Corbell said.

Senator Bernardi joined an odd mix of politicians – including Fraser MP Andrew Leigh and Liberal Democrat senator David Leyonhjelm – ito form the Friends of Motorcycling parliamentary group this week.

The group will advocate the benefits of bikes, including their ability to be an answer to some congestion problems.

The conservative Liberal said as learner drivers in his home state of South Australia have to do 75 supervised hours before applying for a provisional licence, it made sense for “half a day” to be spent on a motorbike.

“Getting on a bike, in a secure compound, going through some witches hats – it’s amazing how challenging it is for people, and it’s amazing how vulnerable you feel even with no traffic around,” he said.

The ACT has no requirement for learner drivers to accumulate supervised driver hours.

Mr McAdie said most 16 and 17 year olds could complete a session riding a motorbike.

An NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust-commissioned report released this year analysed coronial data over a 10-year period and found motorbike riders were 20 times more likely to die on Canberra roads than car occupants.

The figures showed 35 motorcyclists died between 2001 and 2010. Four have died in motorcycle accidents in the last two years.

Canberra has the lowest rate of motorcycle fatalities of all states and territories.

Stressed & Loveless- Try Cialis

“Honey I am as well worn out for it”, is the refrain amongst the men which undergo erectile dysfunction (ED) commonly referred to as erectile dysfunction. There could be countless varieties of reasons for the problem, which differ from a single person to one more. Some 30 million Americans experience common levels of ED.

One of the oft-quoted reasons among the physically or else healthy men is the taxing lifestyle. The daily grind at the office, due dates to catch up with, fracas with the coworkers, unpleasant meetings and unsatisfied targets, they all add up to a life lacking some loosened up minutes.

Add to this is the new work society that is sweeping the metropolitan India– the work culture of mushrooming call centers, where the team members must function throughout the evening to offer their customers in the West when it is daytime there. The entire set of biological rhythms is reversed when nights are spent functioning and also days sleeping. As well as it is a significant recipe for stress.

Several would agree that we are generally nocturnal animals when it concerns obtaining intimate although there is nothing to quit us from attempting sex during anytime of the day. Sex basically is a feature of the relaxed moments, when you wish to loosen up with your companion, pat each other a little or break a joke. Call centre job culture is taking those minutes far from the lives of the evening time employees when the majority of them are incapable to share personal minutes with their spouses, and also as a research suggests, guys are more vulnerable to erectile dysfunction or erectile dysfunction when they have such annoyed biological rhythms.

As they would claim that daytime sleeping is no sleeping, same would certainly hold true for sex. The life pattern flexed over a long period would certainly lead to an afflicted sex-related health. There is years of information available on the Internet on the aid readily available in the form of therapies starting from medications like the inexpensive Cialis to multi-session mental therapy’s. Though one could get Cialis online, it is always the full evaluation of the problem by a qualified medical professional and his prescription that have to be adhered to in concerns as serious as erectile dysfunction.

Certain you could not leave a profession in these times of cut-throat for a suitable work. Even if it implies no resting in the evening for years with each other. But certainly there is an escape of sexual sleepiness and also disinterest when you have a way to learn to nab those your very own moments.

American travellers contend with wintry storms

Some holiday travellers are giving thanks for the cheapest gas prices in years.

But that’s cold comfort to those beating a path through stormy weather, including a nor’easter affecting a wide swath of the East Coast.

Alas, the yearly Thanksgiving trek, be it across the country or across town, may be a mixed bag of the usual travel headaches with a little extra pocket money as a consolation prize. A snapshot of what it’s like out there:

Start of something new

Marc Miller and his wife Becky, of Loveland, Colorado, want their three children to see all 50 states, so this year for Thanksgiving they decided to pack up and head to the Grand Canyon, the Four Corners “and anywhere else we can come up with,” Marc said.

“Were going to try something new, have a new tradition, maybe,” Marc said.

Their first stop was just two exits from home: a truck stop on Interstate 25. They needed a new generator for the crock pot jammed in their trunk, where they were making pumpkin pie.

The goal was to hit Arizona by sunset Thursday, but the plans that followed were looser. They didn’t know where they would stay but planned to find “a hotel that’s not on the bedbug registry.”

Worth the drive

Crossing the Eastern Continental Divide, sometimes during snowstorms, is a Thanksgiving tradition for Jocelyn and Fred Smith of Marietta, Ohio. They did it again Wednesday on a 500-kilometre trip to Middletown, Delaware, for dinner Thursday with her parents, some of her nine siblings and two of the couple’s three children.

“This is what you do to honor your mother and your father and get to see your family,” Joceyln said during a fuel stop along Interstate 70 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

They drove their Honda Accord through a snowstorm that dropped up to 7 inches in western Maryland.

“It was coming down thick. The roads were very slushy, sometimes kind of one lane-ish,” said Jocelyn, 58. “Just nasty, nasty driving.”

The couple have more driving ahead. After Thanksgiving, they’ll visit Fred’s family in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, before heading home.

Taking a break

Mother-daughter pair Carol Cash and Michele Webb left Homosassa, Florida, around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. About 650 kilometres later, they were glad to grab lunch at the iconic drive-in, The Varsity, in downtown Atlanta. Cars with license plates from states across the Deep South streamed in and out of the restaurant’s lot as the traditionally boisterous carhops took orders.

They always drive back when visiting family. The experience is worth the time and money, no matter the cost, Webb said.

“We did it when it was (US) $4 a tank,” Cash said. “You just don’t look at the final price.”

Nightmare of a day

Ed Meyerhoefer, 42, from Morristown, New Jersey, was at his wits end after a horrendous travel day that began Tuesday night when he and his family found out that their 12:30 p.m. flight Wednesday to North Carolina had been canceled due to the storm.

Hoping to avoid the 11-hour drive with their 4-year old son, Lucas, Ed and his wife, Patricia, decided to try to stand by for a 6 a.m. flight out of Newark. Despite waking up at 2 a.m. to be first in line, the flight ended up being full. Frustrated, they gave up waiting and drove back to Morristown to switch cars and begin the 11-hour drive south.

But the final straw came when they arrived and Meyerhoefer realized he’d packed his house keys in his luggage, which had made the stand-by flight that they’d missed.

He had to break a window to get in.

He was still kicking himself as he stopped for a caffeine jolt at a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike Wednesday morning.

“It was a horrible idea,” he said. “Never, ever do standby on a snowy night before Thanksgiving.”

Still, he said, it was important for them to make the trip to see his family.

This Woman Is Beating All The Men At Movember

No-Shave November is the glorious time of year when gentlemen from all over the world grow out their moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues. But one woman—yes, woman—is outdoing the men this year like it’s nobody’s business.

For Movember, Texas-based photographer S. Van Lokey decided to transform herself into mustachioed men using makeup and a variety of fake facial hair. Amazingly, ABC reports that her makeovers were so convincing, that her own mother didn’t even recognize her in the photos she took.

Post by S Van Lokey.

Motivated by a family member’s illness to do this project, Lokey told CNN: “What started out as a wacky Movember mustache photo project turned into a serious exercise in making me unrecognizable even to myself. Eventually my friends were like, ‘I don’t even see you in this photo.’ And that made me think, ‘Wow, let me see what I can really do with this.’”

Bringing her A-game, Lokey disguised herself using a mustache from her collection of 50, face paint and makeup to change her features, and old-fashioned clothes to bring her male characters to life. She then used her iPhone to take selfie-styled photos, which she later posted on Facebook.

Post by Stanley Studio.

While many people believe that Lokey uses Photoshop to create her images, she reassures folks that this is not the case. In fact, the photographer sses phone apps to give her images a vintage feel instead.

“Even though my pictures are not real, in that I’m trying to be someone else, I try to make sure they’re real without altering them too much digitally,” she explains. “Keeping the fake real is what I’m trying to do. If someone can’t recognize me, I have done my job.”
