Accoutrements Switchblade Mustache Comb
It’s a sad, but true, fact that many young boys will one day experiment with facial hair. Regrettably, some will even allow the hair on their upper lip to grow wild and long into what is called a “mustache.” For these boys, special consideration should be given to the grooming of the mustache so as not to let it become bushy and unkempt. Each of these 4″ (10.2 cm) long (when open), metal and plastic combs snap open with the push of a button and if used regularly can turn an adolescent mustache into something almost tolerable.
Product Features
- 4″ long when open
- Helps turn an adolescent mustache into something almost tolerable
- Also works on goatees and sideburns

Tesla's Elon Musk Says that Fully Autonomous Vehicles Are Still at Least 5 Year Away
In addition, regulatory requirements may push rollouts even further into the future
While a sizable segment of our readership is composed of car nuts that enjoy driving and tinkering with cars, the vast majority of people in the U.S. simply want to use their cars for traveling from Point A to Point B. That means, driving to and from work, running errands to the grocery store, or possibly picking up the kids from soccer practice or piano recital.
Since many people drive out of necessity and not particularly for the “thrill”, it should be of no surprise that autonomous driving and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology is quickly picking up steam. Tech companies (like Google), the U.S. Government, and auto manufacturers believe that autonomous technology will also help to drastically cut down on vehicular and pedestrian accidents, as it will take mistake-prone (and often distracted) humans out of the equation.
Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk and his team of engineers are currently working to make autonomous driving a possibility in future Tesla EVs. However, the technology is still more than a few years away from being viable according to Musk, and it will take longer still to jump over regulatory hurdles.
“They will be a factor of 10 safer than a person [at the wheel] in a six-year time frame,” said Musk in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “Tesla is going to do quite a bit of development itself.”
Tesla — and other companies — are working to develop better sensors, radar systems, cameras, and the accompanying software that can detect objects within the driving path of autonomous vehicles. The ability to correctly identify humans, other vehicles, objects that may be in the road, etc. are vital to making autonomous travel possible.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that while Tesla Motors has paved the way for bringing electric vehicle technology to the forefront with great performing and good-looking vehicles, Google has done the most thus far to develop and promote autonomous vehicles. The internet search giant has a vast fleet of autonomous Toyota Prius and Lexus RX 450h vehicles that have logged thousands of miles of driving in and around Mountain View, California. Google has even gone so far as to develop its own prototype autonomous vehicle, albeit one that can only hit 25 mph in its current state.
While consumers are likely looking forward to the days when they can spend their 45-minute commutes to work relaxing, texting away on their smartphones, or even finishing up a presentation on their laptops while their cars do all the work, the FBI is concerned that autonomous vehicles could be use for more nefarious tasks. A July report from the FBI suggests that autonomous vehicle could one day be used as rolling bomb platforms for terrorists looking wreak havoc in American cities.

Family fun day aims to raise awareness about men's health
WHITSUNDAY PCYC is calling on children of all ages to bring their fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers to the club’s free ‘Healthy Fathers, Healthy Families’ event this Saturday.
The family fun day is sponsored by men’s health organisations Men of Malvern Health and Welfare and Foundation 49.
This free event will include a giant inflatable playground, a sausage sizzle, an arts and crafts corner, community stalls, information on men’s health and services, the chance to create a family tree, storytelling and much more.
Whitsunday PCYC branch support officer Jo Pillifeant said the day is about shedding light on men’s health issues. “Australian men are more likely than Australian women to get sick from serious health problems, their mortality rate is also much higher and they are also less likely to seek professional help for problems, particularly those of an emotional nature,” she said.
Ms Pillifeant said the event will be a great way to acknowledge the importance of men as fathers, husbands, partners, grandfathers, brothers, uncles and friends.
“It is a time to appreciate men in particular, their vital role as [a] Dad and being an important role model for their children,” she said.
Whitsunday PCYC hopes to see many families from within the community show their support by attending this free event.

Peter Fonda's 'Easy Rider' Motorcycle Could Fetch $1 Million at Auction
Peter Fonda’s “Captain America” chopper from Easy Rider — easily one of the most iconic motor vehicles in movie history — is set to hit the auction block next month.
Local celebrity auctioneers Profiles in History will be conducting the Oct. 17 sale and estimates it could sell for over $1 million. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Humane Society.
The record for a movie or TV motor vehicle is $4.6 million, netted by the original TV Batmobile at auction in 2013.
“The [Easy Rider] bike evokes powerful emotions even in non-bikers. It personifies the ’60s, all of the good and the bad that decade brought,” said Profiles boss Joe Maddalena in a statement announcing the sale.
The bike is currently owned by businessman Michael Eisenberg, who once co-owned a motorcycle-themed restaurant with Fonda and his Easy Rider director and co-star Dennis Hopper. The bike was previously owned by the National Motorycle Museum and, before that, by actor Dan Haggerty, who had a bit part in the movie before going on to do The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams.
Haggerty was also in charge of tending to the motorcycles used in the movie. The production used at least two different Captain America bikes for filming, but this is the only one to survive to today. In fact, this is the bike used in the climatic scene when Jack Nicholson’s George Hanson is shot and Fonda’s character Wyatt is blown from his bike when a bullet hits the gas tank. The bike was damaged during filming, but Haggerty repaired it after Fonda told him he could keep it. The other motorcycle was stolen before the movie was released.
The bikes were designed African-American chopper builders Cliff Vaughs and Ben Hardy with design input from Fonda.
Haggerty often rode the motorcycle, which he said was like “going out with Marilyn Monroe.”

MAN'S WORLD: Cream of the crop
There aren’t going to be many more of these rite of passage moments so I’d better make the most of this one…
The shadow on my youngest son’s upper lip has been growing darker. Nope, it’s never going to rival Jessica’s tattoo and tongue-stud in the school disapproval stakes – but it’s time to teach Ben how to shave.
And I’m determined to do it.
Somehow, I kept missing out with Tom.
How babies are made? School did that one.
Dating girls? 10,000 episodes of Friends.
And, “Have you started shaving?” I asked one morning.
“About two months ago,” he said.
“I was going to teach you…”
“I watched a video on YouTube.”
Far too late I rushed out and bought him his own razor and some shaving gel.
He promptly went over to the dark side and wrote “electric razor” on his Christmas list.
Well there’d be no missed opportunity and none of that namby-pamby nonsense with Ben. I coughed significantly every time a Wilkinson Sword ad came on.
And I watched his top lip carefully.
Eventually, the harvest was ready.
The good thing was, Ben knew it. And he was willing to learn.
“Come on,” I said on Saturday morning, “I need to get shaved. I’ll show you how to do it – then the bathroom’s all your’s.”
“There’s wet shaving and dry shaving,” I said.
“Real men use a real razor and wet shave. Besides, you’ve seen the ads. In no time at all there’ll be a seductive blonde gazing lovingly at your chin.”
“It’s never happened to you, dad…”
“There’s still time. Anyway, this is a can of shaving foam.”
“No it isn’t, dad. It’s a can of deodorant.”
“What?” So it was. Lynx Excite. Better not spray that all over my chin. Don’t want to make the wife insatiable when there’s a bacon sandwich in half an hour.
“OK, so you’ve two choices. Use the shaving foam out of this can. Or you can use my shaving bowl and brush.”
In the hope that he’ll use the cheap stuff and ignore my gentleman’s-shaving-cream-with-added-moisturiser (I need all the help I can get…) I decide to demonstrate with the £1.99 tin of Gillette.
My face swiftly disappears.
“Right,” I say through a mouthful of foam, “Now to shave it off. Just draw the blade gently across your skin.”
“How come you cut yourself so often?”
A fair point. To be honest, I haven’t improved much in the shaving skills department since I was about 20 – and I’m not going to now I’m a ‘creative’ and only get the razor out once every three days.
“Guess I just stop concentrating. Too busy thinking about a blog or something witty to say on Twitter.”
But I’m damn well going to concentrate now. This is a crucial father-son moment. I don’t want to spoil it with a steady drip, drip, drip of blood. But I do need to show Ben what can go wrong…
“You cut yourself when the blade sort of skids sideways. Like – ”
“No, dad. You don’t need to self-harm to prove your point.”
He’s right. And two minutes later I’m finished. Clean-shaven and looking twenty years younger. But now we come to the most important part. “Clean the wash basin,” I counsel my son. “There isn’t a woman in the country who thinks a tidemark of stubble is a good start to the weekend.”
With that, I leave him to it. A perfect father-son moment. And maybe I should strike while the iron is hot? “Just one more thing, Ben. All that stuff about the gooseberry bush…”

Toyota pauses on Mexico expansion to review growth strategy
BEIJING: Toyota Motor Corp is reconsidering a move to open a new compact car assembly plant in Mexico after company President Akio Toyoda told planners searching for a site to pause and review its rationale, executives familiar with the matter said.
According to four Toyota and group executives, momentum had been building for a decision this summer on the expansion, with the aim of starting production of the mass market Corolla in Mexico in a few years. But Toyoda then asked the team to “re-review” the project by year’s end, the people said.
“There’s absolutely no unused capacity lying around anywhere in North America? Installing production capacity to try to trigger growth is the old way that got us in trouble before,” one of the executives said, referring to questions Toyoda posed in asking for a comprehensive last-minute re-examination.
The upshot was that a decision on the expansion is unlikely before the start of 2015, two Toyota executives who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
One said Toyota would probably go ahead with the plant, but might scale it down or delay the start of construction.
Toyota already has a pick-up truck plant in the northwestern Mexican state of Baja California, capable of producing 63,000 Tacoma vehicles a year, but does not have any capacity for passenger cars.
A company spokesman said Toyota had not made any decision on a new plant in Mexico.
“We are always evaluating our production capacity in Mexico, and in North America generally, to keep it in line with local market demand, but no such decision has been made at this time,” the spokesman said.
The agonising over further expansion encapsulates the strategic dilemma facing the 58-year-old company chief, who took charge of the firm founded near 80 years ago by his grandfather in 2009 after a 15-year hiatus without a member of the Toyoda clan at the helm.
Toyoda – the “d” was replaced by a “t” in the company name when a new logo was launched in 1936 – inherited a broken company that had just posted the first operating loss in 70 years.
He blamed the slump and a subsequent massive global recall crisis in 2009-10 on what he described at the time as his predecessors blind pursuit of volume and high margins and sought to refocus on product and quality, placing the company under a three-year global ban on adding new capacity through 2016.
Now, with global volumes and profits recover steadily, Toyota bosses are asking whether the time is right to step on the gas pedal again by installing new production facilities.
LOW-COST BASE
Toyota, including its Daihatsu and Hino units, became the first automaker to break through the 10 million vehicles mark in annual sales in the year ended in March.
The company began looking into the expansion in Mexico as its rivals rush to build manufacturing capacity there to lower the costs of vehicles they sell in the United States. Mexico could also serve as an export hub for South American markets.
Car makers including BMW, Kia, Audi , Honda, Nissan and Mazda have all either begun production in Mexico or announced plans to start manufacturing there.
The people familiar with the plans said Toyota was looking for a site for a second assembly plant mostly in the central states of Queretaro and Guanajuato.
One of the executives said it was unlikely that Toyota would, in the end, pass up an opportunity to add capacity in Mexico.
“Given the high cost constraints in the United States and Canada, we have no choice but to use lower-cost locations in emerging countries to build cars,” he said. “I have been pushing for this since 2002. We need to build a presence in Mexico, sales-wise and manufacturing-wise.”
But “Akio’s desire to put a definitive end to the old ways” pursued by his predecessors remained strong, he added. That made it likely that Toyota would slow the pace of the shift into Mexico, he said.

Eight motorcyclists hurt during 33rd fall ride
MERRILL (WAOW) – Eight motorcycle riders – six of them women – were hurt in motorcycle crashes that occurred during Tomahawk’s 33rd annual fall motorcycle ride for muscular dystrophy, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday.
The six injury crashes left some riders hospitalized in critical condition but no deaths were reported, Lt. Tim Fisher said.
A year ago, four injury crashes occurred involving motorcycles, Fisher said.
Fisher estimated 10,000 to 30,000 motorcyclists attended this year’s rally, which started Thursday and wrapped up Sunday, as attendance may have been down somewhat due to cold and rainy conditions.
Two of the crashes involved motorcycles that hit each other because of animals in the road, the sheriff’s department said.
In one, a husband slowed to avoid some turkeys and his 43-year-old wife rear-ended him, investigators said. The crash threw her from her motorcycle.
Three people were hurt when one motorcycle slowed down due to a porcupine on the side of the road and it was rear-ended, investigators said.
As for so many women being hurt this year, the lieutenant said, “There are a lot of women driving motorcycles nowadays.”
One female driver was hurt when her motorcycle left a road because she took a corner too fast, the sheriff’s department said.
Fisher said deputies arrested five drivers for suspected drunken driving during the fall ride. One involved a motorcycle, he said.
