An email from Monica Lewinsky was omitted from the Clinton library’s latest document dump for privacy reasons.
Every two weeks this spring, the National Archives has been releasing documents from Clinton’s presidency through The William J Clinton Presidential Library & Museum in Little Rock, Ark. The documents were previously withheld under the Presidential Records Act. The library posted the latest batch online today, linking to thousands of pages of official memos and communications between aides.
Included in a list of withdrawn/redacted documents (commonly interspersed in the large .pdfs), midway through a batch of documents concerning Gen. Wesley Clark, is an email from Monica Lewinsky’s Pentagon email address.
Vaguely referenced as concerning a “medical record,” the omitted email is listed as four pages long. See the last item on this list:

The recipient, Ashley Raines, is identified as a Lewinsky friend and confidante in the infamous Starr Report, produced by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr. The report would later disclose details of the Lewinsky affair and trigger a major scandal that led to Clinton’s impeachment. Raines served as White House Director of Office of Policy Development Operations and Special Liaison to Management and Administration, according to the report, working in the Old Executive Office Building, next door to the White House.
In 1996, after an initial affair with the president had stopped according to the Starr report, Lewinsky described the relationship to Raines and showed her gifts allegedly given to her by Bill Clinton, including “a hat pin approximately eight inches long, an antique looking brooch the size of a half dollar, special edition copy of ‘Leaves of Grass’ by WALT WHITMAN, items from Martha’s Vineyard with ‘Black Dog’ logo, including a ball cap, and a short, baggy summer dress, and an autographed photo of the two of them wishing LEWINSKY ‘Happy Birthday,’” Raines told Starr’s investigators, with lawyers present. Lewinsky told Raines that she had confided in Linda Tripp about her relationship with Clinton.
The email address, “mlewinsk@pagate.pa.osd.mil,” matches Lewinsky’s Pentagon address shown on emails included in the same Starr documents. After her presence around Clinton aroused suspicions, Lewinsky was transferred to the Pentagon.
The library omitted the Lewinsky email from its latest document release for privacy reasons, according to the code given, listing FOIA restriction code P6/b(6), which is explained in a coding chart included in the Clinton documents as “Release would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”

According to Lewinsky’s later claims, her affair with Clinton was ongoing when this email was sent.
The email is dated 10/22/1997, a time during which Lewinsky would claim her previously ended affair with Clinton had resumed. Lewinsky would tell Raines that the affair had stopped before the two women spoke in 1996, but later she would tell Raines that the relationship resumed from early 1997 to December 1997, Raines told Starr’s investigators.

Three Killed When Motorcycles Collide On Doty Rd.
Three young adults were killed and a fourth was injured when two motorcycles collided head-on in a rural area outside of Maybee Friday night.
Monroe County sheriff’s deputies reported the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Doty Rd. near Zink Rd. in Exeter Township.
Killed in the accident were Darin T. Lipkowski, 18, of Maybee and Marc Thompson, 23, of Monroe. The third person who died was a 21-year-old woman whose identity has not yet been released until family members are notified.
The fourth person involved with 18-year-old Samantha L. Morlan of Monroe. She was listed in temporary serious condition at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Deputies said Mr. Thompson was riding a 2010 Kawasaki dirt bike and the 21-year-old woman was his passenger. Investigation shows that Mr. Thompson was riding northbound on Doty north of Zink when for unknown reason the dirt bike traveled left of center and collided with a 1996 Kawasaki motorcycle.
The motorcycle, which was southbound on Doty, was being operated by Mr. Lipkowski while Ms. Morlan was his passenger.
Mr. Thompson and his passenger were ejected from the dirt bike and came to rest along the west shoulder of Doty. Mr. Lipkowski and Ms. Morlan also were ejected and came to rest along the east shoulder of Doty.
The two operators of the bikes were pronounced dead at the scene. The two female passengers were rushed to St. Joseph in Ann Arbor. The unnamed woman was pronounced dead on arrival.
Deputies said it appears that the two women passengers were wearing helmets at the time of the crash while the two men were not.
Monroe Community Ambulance and London-Maybee-Raisinville and Exeter Township volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputies Dan Zdybek and Brian Quinn of the Traffic Services Division along with Deputies Doug Bender, Tom Fauver and David Moore of road patrol.

Sheriff Clarke to lead motorcycle safety press conference
MILWAUKEE — Warmer weather means more motorcycles will be sharing the road with other vehicles, and Sheriff David Clarke is urging drivers to be aware of motorcyclists.
Clarke will hold a Motorcycle Safety Awareness press conference at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Harley-Davidson Museum parking lot.
Motorcyclists from Rolling Thunder, ABATE of Wisconsin and other organizations will also be in attendance.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, 112 motorcyclists, including passengers, died in traffic crashes in 2012 in Wisconsin, the second-highest motorcycle fatality rate on record in the state since 1986.
About 2,396 motorcyclists were injured on Wisconsin roads in 2012, a 14 percent increase from the nearly 2,1000 cyclists injured in the state the year prior.

Cub Scouts 'start their engines' at derby
DANVILLE — For decades, the Cub Scouts have been making memories at the pinewood derby races.
This year, about 28 boys participated in Pack 399′s derby, as well as a special guest — a winner from 1964, Tom Morse.
Morse is commander of the American Legion Post 210, which is the charter organization for Cub Scouts Pack 399 and host for the race last Sunday.
The grand champion winner was Dominic Herrmann, a member of Pack 399 and a second-grader at Bismarck Elementary.
Morse was the grand champion winner in Pack 389 in Rockford 50 years ago. He brought the wooden car he had used all those years ago and a plaque.
“I have very fond memories of the pinewood derby,” Morse said. His three sons participated in Bismarck pinewood derbies, “so I’m very familiar with it.”
Marguerite Bailey, cub master of the Boy Scouts of America Pack 399 of Danville, said, “Fifty years later we’re still making cars and making memories boys never forget. Even those who were never a cub scout or have ever been part of scouting know of this tradition.”
The derby works like this: A kit contains a small rectangle block of wood with four plastic wheels and four nails to be cut, shaved, sanded, and then painted. Leaders weigh the cars to make sure they do not exceed 5 ounces. Then they are numbered and logged into a software application to record the speed of the car electronically.
A wooden five-lane track is used, with two fluffy pillows to catch the cars as they exit the track.
After many heats, the software tracks the speed of each car to determine the winners.
“At the end when I had the honor of awarding the trophies,” Bailey said, “I got to see the smiles of the Cub Scouts and parents and know the pinewood derby was a success.”

Men carrying a cell phone on a belt and using it intensively during a 5-day test period had a 19% drop in highly motile sperm from previous levels.
