2 motorcyclists hurt during group ride on I-70

Two motorcyclists were hurt along Interstate 70 early this evening in a crash on the way back from a memorial ride in Columbus.

Three motorcycles went down in the westbound lanes when one rider apparently lost control when traffic slowed down at mile marker 51 near Old Mill Road, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The group of 12 motorcycle riders were all wearing helmets, and two people stopped to help, according to troopers.

Two riders, whose names were not released, were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the highway patrol.

Traffic was temporarily shut down, and at one point was backed up a couple miles to U.S. 68.

The motorcycles involved in the crash were damaged, but not totaled.
