QUETTA: Pakistan Army trained 200 police personnel as motorcycle patrolling force to maintain law and order in the city.
According to a press release of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Balochistan government had announced a motorcycle patrolling police force to counter increasing incidents of terrorism and street crimes in Quetta. “Pakistan Army has imparted training to 200 police personnel on 20 motorcycles,” stated the press release.
The police personnel were trained to quickly respond to incidents of terrorism, targeted attacks, street crimes, and to chase the culprits. “It will help the police to perform better as they were trained how to cope with the situation in different circumstances and how to make best use of a weapon while riding motorbikes,” the press release said.
The motorbike patrolling force had performed well during the Muharram processions, which went peacefully without the occurrence of any unpleasant incident. It is pertinent to mention that the chief minister announced to introduce the motorcycle patrolling force after the increasing incidents of targeted killings, bombings and street crimes in Quetta valley.
Tribal elder gunned down: A local tribal elder was gunned down by unidentified armed men along with his son in Mangocher area of Kalat District on Saturday night.
The police said that unidentified armed men opened fire on a local tribal elder, Amanullah, who was travelling late evening with his son in his car in Khoor Rehmatzai area of Khaliqabad Mangocher. As a result of the firing, Amanullah and his son Israrullah were killed on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds. Soon after the incident, the security forces rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a local hospital where doctors confirmed their death. The armed men riding motorcycles escaped from the crime scene after firing. The cause of killing was alleged to be an old dispute between Amanullah and attackers, the Police said. “An old dispute is the reason for killing of the son and father,” the police said, adding that investigation was underway in this regard.
