Epoch Men's Health Clinic brings free screenings to Conway

Epoch Men’s Health Clinic founder Mike Whitfield calls his clinic, which held a grand opening at its Conway location Friday, a way for men to receive the proper screenings they need to make sound health decisions.

“We’re here to educate and empower the guys,” he said.

Whitfield said Epoch Men’s Health free 100 percent screenings are provided as a no-obligation service.

Free screenings include prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood testing, total testosterone, free testosterone, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) testing, complete blood count (CBC) testing and comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) testing.

According to Epoch Men’s Health, the company created the state’s first physician-run clinic model to help men as young as 29 years old.

“Our medical team discusses with each patient how he’s feeling and what symptoms – such as low energy, exhaustion, weight gain, sadness, forgetfulness and hair loss – he might be experiencing,” said Dr. Thom DeGraff, lead physician at the Conway clinic. “His test results and symptoms could indicate any number of conditions, from Low T to heart issues.

Our goal is to get to the root of the problem, create a treatment plan tailored to him and get him feeling great.”

The lab at Epoch Men’s Health analyzes tests for other possible issues such as problems relating to a patient’s heart, metabolism, nutrition and hormones.

Whitfield launched the company that Arkansas Urology bought last year after witnessing his own personal realizations about men’s health.

His discoveries led him to believe, as he said to attendees of the grand opening, that men do not always spend enough time medically checking up on themselves, no matter how healthy they may seem.

Scot Davis, CEO of Arkansas Urology, said the Conway clinic “brings an added value to the community.”

Unlike other facilities that Whitfield said go about hormone therapy the wrong way by promoting a quick or unhealthy solution, he said Epoch Health follows a patient throughout their journey to better health.

Whitfield added that Epoch Men’s Health provides its services in an affordable way that allows for men on government medical assistance to receive care if additional visits are needed.

Accepted insurance carriers can be found at the Epoch Men’s Health website, epochmenshealth.com.

Patients in need of additional care beyond the scope of Epoch Men’s Health are advised of their options.

The clinic operates in a way that allows men to stop by without an appointment at a time that is convenient for them between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays.

Epoch Men’s Health, located at 800 Exchange Avenue, Suite 103 in Conway, has eight patient rooms and a ninth room for testing red blood count.

Epoch Men’s Health also operates clinics in Little Rock, North Little Rock and Benton.

The company is set to open locations in Anchorage, Alaska, Tucson, Arizona, and Columbia, Missouri, this spring.
