10 Things to Know About Prada's Spring 2016 Men's Show

Leave it to Miuccia Prada to turn men’s fashion week in Milan on its head. Fall’s all-black sporting dudes gave way to sporty, short-short-loving guys for Spring, styled in bright colors and quirky knits. And in typical Prada fashion, several women walked in the show too, wearing looks that riffed off of the men’s ensembles. Find the 10 facts you need to know about the Prada Spring 2016 men’s show below, and check back later for Tim Blanks’ review

1. Who wears short shorts? Prada’s gents, clearly. Although theirs are best paired with calf-high socks and roomy tanks and jackets.

2. Just when you thought the half tuck was over, Prada endorses it on the runway. With a sport jacket and slim-cut trousers, the styling tip has new life.

3. Race cars, snakeskin, stripes, and a graphic eye print all mix on this womenswear look. The collagelike patterns from Mrs. Prada’s Fall Miu Miu show appear to be rubbing off on Prada proper.

4. Ready for takeoff? A retro spaceship was just one of the many images knitted into sweaters, though considering the number of Instagrams of this particular look, everyone wants to be a rocket man come spring.

5. One big silhouette story in the show was a wide-shouldered top, seen here in a men’s cranberry leather jacket, though the tank dresses sported by several female models also featured extra room behind the shoulder blades for a jaunty, oversized effect.

6. Meet the new way to tie your tie over your sweater.

7. Mismatched suits worn over hoodies made several appearances on the catwalk. A Silicon Valley style note done right.

8. It’s official: Grommets are the trend of the now. From Kim Kardashian West’s Proenza Schouler CFDA dress to Prada’s runway, artful holes are here to stay.

9. The female models sported long cat eyeliner and low ponytails with their hair pushed into messed bangs—an update to Pre-Fall’s high ponies.

10. Celebrities in attendance included Prada campaign stars of past and present Michael Shannon, Willem Dafoe, and Gary Oldman in addition to It actor Jack O’Connell.
