ISLAMABAD: Motorcycle production in country during first half of current financial year (2015-16) has recorded 15.86 percent increase as compared to the same period of last year.
About 991,132 motorcycles were produced during the period from July- December, 2015-16 as compared to 855,439 motorcycles manufactured in same period of last financial year.
About 156,415 motorcycles were manufactured in month of December, 2015 as compared to 143,230 motorcycles produced in same month of last financial year, the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said.
Meanwhile, jeeps and car production increased by 47.24 percent in first two quarters respectively as about 92,968 cars and jeeps were produced during July-December, 2015-16 as compared to production of 63,141 in same period of last financial year, it added.
Besides, during last two quarters of current financial year, 499 buses were produced as compared to 301 buses produced in same period of last financial year, while about 74 buses were produced in December, 2016, the data reveled.
From period July-December, trucks production were recorded at 2,326 as compared to 1,765 of same period last year which were up by 31.78 percent, the data reveled.
However, during the period under review, tractors manufacturing decreased by 45.89 percent as about 13,064 tractors were produced as compared to 24,143 tractors produced during the same period of last financial year.
According the data, domestic production of light commercial vehicle (LCV) witnessed 144.58 percent as about 21,423 LCVs were produced during the period under review as compared to the production of 8,758 LCVs produced during first half of last financial year.
