COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two people on a motorcycle were critically injured in a crash with an SUV Sunday afternoon, according to the Lake City Police Department.
The driver of a Ford Explorer was attempting to make a left-hand turn into the Hardee’s parking lot on East Duval Street shortly before 3:30 p.m.
While turning, the driver struck a black 1982 Suzuki motorcycle heading west on East Duval Street.
Two people were on the motorcycle, a 50-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman. Both were thrown off.
Police said neither motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet.
The woman was airlifted to a local hospital and the man was taken by ambulance.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
LCPD did not release the names of anyone involved in the crash. It did issue a reminder to watch for motorcycles and always look twice.
