Ford Thailand Likely to Beat India as Ecosport Supplier for North America
It was a couple of weeks back that the Ford Ecosport was spied testing in the USA for the first time. This gave way to rumours that the compact SUV is going to be launched in North America. It was then revealed that Ford is planning to launch the compact SUV there in 2016. Now that that’s been clarified, what remains to be seen is from which one of its production plants Ford sources the Ecosport units. India is certainly in contention but it seems like the American company’s Thailand plant may be preferred.
The Ford Ecosport will be launched in the USA in 2016
Multiple sources within the company have revealed that Ford is likely to overlook its Indian subsidiary in favour of the Thai one. On offer is an order of the Ford Ecosport facelift for 2016 of a size between 55,000-70,000 units. India is one of the primary export hubs for the Ford Ecosport. 35% of its products were shipped off to other regions in the last fiscal. This comes out to about 1.3 lakh cars. Ford India’s vehicles end up mostly in European markets. Landing the North America export deal would have helped the company achieve greater financial stability for its Chennai plant and also improved local utilization of capacity.

While Ford Thailand beating it to export agreement may c0me as a downer to Ford India, customers will certainly feel differently about it. Waiting periods for the Ford Ecosport have been ever increasing, much to the ire of those that have booked the car. Waiting periods for the car started off at around 3 months but have been steadily increased since. Customers have had to endure waiting for their Ecosport to arrive for more than 6 months and a price hike as well.

The compact SUV has been an extremely successful product, winning a number of awards and turning out to be a money-spinner for the company. The Thailand plant is being pegged to be take on the Ecosport exports to North America because the NVH levels of the units produced there are better than of those produced in India.

Successful men's health project finishes in Maybole
A very successful Men’s Health Project has just concluded in Maybole.
The Fitba’ Project saw an increase in the number of men in Maybole participating in a healthy weight management and exercise programme.
The project was a 14 week programme supported by Maybole Community Council, North Carrick Learning Community Partnership, South Ayrshire Council’s Leisure Services and Ayr United Football Academy.
It was funded through Awards for All and weekly sessions held at Carrick Academy involved health assessments, weight tracking, healthy eating advice and an exercise programme.
One participant commented, “This programme woke me up to being healthier rather than sitting in the house.”
Others said that they had much more knowledge of healthy eating and planned to keep up with regular exercise and healthy eating.
Twelve participants lost over 9 stones in weight over the duration of the project.
