Reston teen in miniature motorcycle crash dies

By ,

A Reston teen involved in a crash while riding a miniature motorcycle has died, Fairfax County police said.

Sean Logan, 17, was driving the mini-bike northbound on Reston Parkway on Thursday, when he attempted to make a left turn onto Wiehle Avenue and drove into the path of an oncoming Toyota Acura, police said.

The Acura, which had the right of way, struck the mini-bike. The Acura then struck a Lexus that was also headed southbound on Reston Parkway, police said.

Logan was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries on Monday.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. They said charges are unlikely in the case.

Mini-bikes, or pocket bikes, are small versions of motorcycles that are often gas powered. Fairfax County police say they are illegal to operate on highways, sidewalks and bike trails in Virginia
