Cambridge Uncovered, Episode 2: "Men's Health and Racial Disparities"

Certain medical conditions, such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes, disproportionately affect minority populations in the U.S. In this episode of Cambridge Uncovered, NeighborMedia correspondent Maurice Wilkey delves into the issue of men’s health and racial disparities, as he interviews local experts and residents on the topic. In the first segment of the show, Wilkey sits down with Albert Pless, program manager of the Men’s Health League, and Dr. Jeremy Keller, a physician with Cambridge Health Alliance, to gain some insight into the problem. He then speaks with Derek Arledge, a trainer and coordinator for CHA’s Men’s Health Program, as well as Herman Lee Manigo, a health league participant, to talk about healthy lifestyle choices. In accompanying roll-ins, Wilkey provides provides information on statistics and resources for the community, as well as takes to a local barbershop to interview men about their well-being and understanding of health disparities among men of color. Cambridge Uncovered is a collaboration between Cambridge Community Television’s Production Department and NeighborMedia citizen journalism initiative.
