Giorgio Armani and Paul Smith went unconventional, with mixed patterns or multicolored outsoles. And Saint Laurent replaced perforations with metal studs.
Fashion takes come in the form of Alexander McQueen’s metallic brogue, a shoe that’s bound to to stop traffic. Valentino’s version with a flatform sole is less flashy.

The new way to wear the staple shoe? Don the brogue with denim, either crisp or distressed, for put-together weekend wear.
