Motorcycles were involved in two fatal accidents in Tarrant County on Saturday afternoon.
One person was killed and another was seriously injured after a motorcyclist fleeing police crashed in northwest Tarrant County Saturday afternoon.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel said a highway patrol trooper had pulled over the cyclist for speeding on U.S. 287 near the Wise/Tarrant County line. The motorcycle sped away as the trooper was walking up to the vehicle.
Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department officials said DPS troopers and Wise County deputies were behind the fleeing motorcyclist when he crashed into the back of a Honda Accord at Business Highway 287 and Tinsley Lane just before 1:30 p.m.
The pursuit lasted for six minutes.
The driver and a female passenger on the motorcycle were ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene; he survived and was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Names of the victims have not been released.
Haschel said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Less than two hours later, the driver of a motorcycle on the ramp from Highway 360 to Interstate 20 lost control, hit the guardrail and was killed, Arlington police said.
The driver’s identity had not been released late Saturday night.
