Motorcycle crash leaves one man dead

One man is dead and another seriously injured after a motorcycle accident early this morning on Windsor’s west side.


According to a news release by Windsor Police, officers attended a “serious motor vehicle accident” in the area of Sandwich Street and University Avenue West  at approximately 4:20 a.m. Oct. 14.


In the release, police stated two motorcycles were involved and both had been heading eastbound on Sandwich.


Police reported a 26-year-old man riding a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.  A 28-year-old man who was riding a white Honda CBR suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while his passenger,  a 28-year-old woman, received minor injuries. Both were also taken to hospital. No names have been released.


Riverside Drive West, University Avenue West and Sandwich Street between Detroit Street and Huron Church Road were shut down for most of the day as accident reconstruction officers investigated.
