One person has died after a motorcycle collided with a car in Quincy Thursday night.
Deputy Chief Doug VanderMaiden, with the Quincy Police Department, says a man in his thirties died from injuries received in the crash.
Quincy police say the motorcycle was going south on 3rd Street when it hit the back of a car near Spring Street. Witnesses told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed. Several people in the area of the crash said motorcycles often speed through the area.
“Anytime any resident of Quincy notices some kind of traffic complaint, by all means they should give us a call, so we can look into it,” VanderMaiden said.
Witness Kimberly Patrick who’s a nurse, came up on the crash, got out of the car, and tried to help.
“Ran up there and noticed that he didn’t have a pulse,” Patrick said. “Flipped him over, we started CPR on him until the EMTs and the fire department got here.”
Crime scene tape blocked off 3rd Street between Spring and Broadway streets. Debris was scattered across the road as a motorcycle laid on its side. A car around a half block away had damage to the rear.
3rd Street between Spring and Broadway streets was expected to be closed for several hours while a crash reconstruction team worked the scene.
