CLAYCOMO, Mo. — Americans investing in American cars, that’s what the United Auto Workers Local 249 is pushing. To celebrate Ford made cars, some members of the union came together to not only admire decked out Mustangs, but to honor lives lost at the Ford plant.

The rally drivers hoped to not only demonstrate the beauty of an American made-car, but also to celebrate those who’ve dedicated their lives working at the Ford Motor Company plant in Claycomo.

“My dad worked at this plant and my brothers did, so I always wanted to work at Ford Motor Company,” said Garron Hayes with Local 249.

Hayes has worked at the Ford plant for more than a year and is doing so to continue a legacy. His dad retired after 32 years of service.

“He worked here so hard to provide something for his family,” he said.

Gary Smith was a GM man before fully committing to Ford 25 years ago. Now he drives this 2003 Mustang Terminator Cobra with 600 horsepower.

He encourages more Americans to invest in an American family like Ford.

“You take care of home first,” he said.

More than 40 drivers came out to ride their Mustang to the Kansas Speedway. They hope other drivers will be inspired by the impressive line-up.
