Two Elk Grove police officers crashed their motorcycles Thursday morning when they hit a diesel spill on their way to attend a memorial service for a fallen officer in San Jose.
Several Elk Grove motorcycle officers were traveling in formation to the funeral service for San Jose Officer Michael Johnson at about 6:25 a.m. when they came up to a diesel spill near East Stockton Boulevard and Grantline Road in Elk Grove, police said.
Two officers hit the spill and went down on their motorcycles.
One of the officers was taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not known. The other officer was OK, according to police.
There is no word on what caused the diesel spill.
