Robin Wright calls for a feminist revolution

Robin Wright has led the charge for a “feminist revolution” saying that the world needs a female Che Guevara.

The House of Cards star opened up on the subject of feminism, saying she is glad gender equality is being discussed in the public domain, but says there is a long way to go because it’s still “a man’s world”.

Speaking to ES Magazine, the actress said: “We need a revolution, we really do. Thank God gender equality is finally being talked about and making news, but we need a female Che Guevara.

“It is a man’s world. Most industries are a man’s world. But when you break it down it’s women [who do the work]. But they don’t necessarily get the credit.”

Wright will be directing four episodes of the next season of Netflix’s House of Cards this year, which she had always hoped to do but let her insecurities get in the way.

She explained: “[Directing] was in the back of my head: one day. But then you think, ‘Yeah, I want to, but I could never.’ And that’s just fear. And a lot of that, I think, was being a female in this industry.

“I was programmed into thinking: ‘I am going to be lesser; they [men] are going to think that I am lesser."”
