Two wrecks involving motorcycles occurred Wednesday in Cleveland County leaving one dead and one in critical condition.
Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday identified a motorcyclist killed in a crash with a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon near Indian Hills Road and Sunnylane Road.
According to deputies, Ronald Jason Fox, 36, of Oklahoma City, was traveling southbound in the 17300 block of Sunnylane Road when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a northbound semi-truck.
The truck was turning west into the Van Eaton Ready Mix entrance when the motorcycle crashed into the semi’s right rear tires. Fox suffered massive injuries in the collision. He died at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was evaluated at a local hospital. The driver’s name is not being released at this time.
CCSO was notified about the wreck at 12:11 p.m., Wednesday. The Collision Reconstruction Team responded and continues to investigate the collision.
Sunnylane Road between Indian Hills Road and SE 34th Street was closed for about three hours.
A second wreck involving a motorcycle occurred around 7 p.m., Wednesday in Norman. Lt. Brent Barbour said Thursday more information regarding the incident would be released today.
The driver of the motorcycle was reported as critically injured Wednesday night after colliding with a car on 24th Avenue Southeast and Tahoe Drive.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic. The driver of motorcycle was thrown on impact and slid several feet along the roadway before hitting his head on a concrete barrier, according to the witnesses.
The man, who was reported to be wearing a helmet, was transported to OU Medical Center. The driver of the car was checked by paramedics at the scene and released.
