The Valley Girls

Samantha Evans and Shauna Guinn AKA Hang Fire Smokehouse were so inspired by road tripping around the states they started serving up Southern style BBQ in their smokehouse in Llantwit Major, Glamorgan, Wales. They put Cardiff on the street food map, and this month, they’re popping up at Meatopia at London’s Tobacco Dock (19-20 September). Next stop, the world…

The Sister Act

Having grown up on the Kenton Hall Estate farm in Suffolk, it’s no surprise siblings Lucy and Emily McVeigh shunned the bright lights of London to eventually settle in the countryside. They expanded the family beef business in the coolest way possible – they sculpt burgers by hand and of course there’s a van involved. Watch out for their Longhorn Burgers van at the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival in East Suffolk (26-27 September).

The Game Changer

Formerly the PA to Sir David Frost, Miranda Ballard launched ‘Modern Meat Co.’ Muddy Boots with her husband Roland in 2008. They famously turned down a deal with Tesco and now run hip events like wine tasting and book clubs at their Crouch End shop. Miranda’s since penned the ultimate meat-lovers cookbook Modern Meat Kitchen. Winning.
