Snapdeal's fashion category grows 250% in 2015

E-commerce major Snapdeal saw the highest growth in fashion products in 2015. The fashion category grew 250 per cent year-on-year and attracted the highest number of users in 2015. Snapdeal said the women’s fashion category witnessed 220 per cent increase in orders, followed by men’s fashion (130 per cent) and children’s fashion (100 per cent). Sales from tier-II and tier-III cities had also grown significantly, the company claimed.


“The category has grown tremendously this year. One key reason is our exclusive partnerships with brands such as Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, Ekta Kapoor’s Ek, Shoppers Stop, as well as partnership with leading brands like Benetton, Jack & Jones and Vero Moda,” Rahul Taneja, vice-president (category management), Snapdeal, said.


According to the company, in women’s category ethnic wear saw an upward trend and 14 per cent of all searches on Snapdeal were related to items like sarees, dress materials, suits etc., while 70 per cent of all women ethnic wear orders came from non-metro areas.


The demand for innerwear also surged during the year and the category witnessed 200 per cent growth for women and 100 per cent growth for men, Snapdeal said.


Top five selling items in fashion included sarees, dress material, men’s shoes, men’s watches, women’s kurtis, Snapdeal said.(SH)
