Two killed in accidents in Sharjah

Emirati 16-year-old girl killed in motorcycle accident in Al Badyer, while Emirati man died after ramming into truck at Al Saja

Sharjah: Two Emiratis were killed in separate vehicle accidents, police said.

A 37-year-old Emirati man died after his vehicle crashed into the rear of a truck on Al Saja road early Sunday, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

A 16-year-old Emirati girl died on Friday when her motorcycle crashed at Al Badyer area of Sharjah.

The male victim, identified as K.S.A.B.H., was driving at high speed and tried to avoid the truck, police said.

Police received a call around 5am to report the man’s death. The victim was moved to Al Dhaid Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival

The female victim, meanwhile, was riding a Polaris motorcycle for the first time in her life when it turned over several times due to high speed, resulting in her death, police said.

An official at the Department of Traffic and Patrols at Sharjah Police said the victim was killed on the spot due to the strong impact of the crash.

Her body was taken to Al Dhaid hospital.

“We urge those driving motorcycles to adhere to the speed limit and avoid driving recklessly, as they not only endanger their own lives but the lives of others as well,” said the police official.

He also added that bikers should take safety precautions, which include wearing fluorescent jackets and helmets.

Police urged families not to allow their children to ride motorcycles or drive cars unless they obtain driving licences.
